From Rev Mark-Aaron..
September brings us back to school, takes us off to Uni and turns us toward the crib of Christmas. But first, we will welcome the wee ones back to playgroups, toddler groups, pre-schools and 'First Days'. Please pray with me for our families & friends this month.
Pray, too, for our pets; as we dash hither and thither, may we not neglect our furry & feathery friends, our scary & hairy, hoofed and hounded friends this September. After all, in some fashion, we entered into a social agreement with them to love and care for them as they care for us.On September 30th, we're hosting our annual Animal Blessing Service, once more on the Glinton Triangle, where all creatures (great & small) & their carers will be most welcome. This year, we've invited a guest speaker from the Guide Dog Association to address us [but, it could have been from the Guide Parakeet Association (if one such existed)].
Enjoy the upcoming month and Pax!
As we celebrate Harvest time we are reminded of the difficult year farmers have experienced and the implications that the dry summer has had, not only on this year’s harvest, but also for winter animal feed and next year’s crops. We remember farming communities locally and around the world in our prayers.

Glinton Photography Competition : The inaugural photo competition organised by the Social Committee of St Benedict’s Church in Glinton saw around 60 entries from across the Benefice. The photos were judged by an independent professional photographer and winners and runners-up were announced in the church in front of a display of all the photographs, with the prizes being awarded by Rector Mark-Aaron. Photos had been submitted from around the villages featuring scenes taken throughout the year. The judge had provided some very helpful feedback on the entries, including some tips on composition. The committee is very grateful for her contribution. The winning photographs will be collated into a calendar which will be on sale in December - an excellent Christmas present that showcases the talent in the Benefice.
The winners were:
Nature: 1st - Simon Richards, 2nd - Mandy Grierson,
3rd - Michael Hickin
Juniors - Neve Malcolm
Architecture: 1st - Ian Halstead, 2nd - Cathy Hannan,
3rd - David Hare
Village Life: Mandy Grierson
St. Pega's, Peakirk
Open Gardens : Despite being the first wet day in weeks, the Open Garden afternoon was very successful. The gardens were much appreciated and delicious cakes were served in the village hall. £1000 was raised to share between Sue
Ryder at Thorpe Hall and St Pega’s Church.
St Pega’s Harvest Weekend : The sun really did shine for this weekend— two beautiful autumn days. The church was decorated with stunning displays of flowers, fruit and tins. The stalls in the churchyard raised almost £300 and the presentation of the Peakirk Project during the afternoon generated further interest in toilets, lighting and wall paintings. Tins and packets were collected at the harvest service and 70kg of produce was taken to the Food Bank. We thank God for all his gifts to us and thank all who gave of their time to make the weekend such a success.
